Program Overview
Aims / Objectives of the program
This 2-day seminar is aimed at physiotherapists who are interested in updating their skills in Perinatal Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy.
The seminar’s objective is to instruct and motivate pre & postnatal physical therapists by teaching them how to undertake a full assessment of the pelvic floor and the abdomen during the perinatal period in order to develop a therapeutic rehabilitation plan.
Learning outcomes
- Recognize the musculoskeletal changes that occur throughout pregnancy and during birth.
- Improve your ability to palpate the female pelvic floor complex and external pelvis.
- Introduce biofeedback for treating postnatal women.
- Learn how to use vaginal dilators to treat sexual dysfunction.
- Get help modifying the pelvic floor exercise regimen during pregnancy.
- Assess and treat diastasis recti.
- Learn how to do perinatal core restoration.
- Improve critical thinking skills in perinatal cases with case study discussion.
The information is immediately applicable to clinical practice.
Prerequisite knowledge: Pelvic floor anatomy, assessment and dysfunctions & rehab foundation course
Course format: Face-to-face hands-on, lecture presentation, practical demonstration (as per international guidelines per specialty), case study discussion and evaluation.
Target audience: Physiotherapists
No of participants: Min pax 8, max pax 16 (priority list will apply in case of higher demand).
Course Dates:
1-2 March 2025, 9-5pm.
Internationally accredited course 14 CPD points for physiotherapists.
Certificates of attendance will be provided to attendees at the conclusion of the course.
